    Somerset, NJ – January 27, 2022 – Star Micronics recently exhibited at the National Retail Federation (NRF): Retail’s Big Show where they not only displayed their traditional line of products, but also introduced their latest lines of receipt, label, and kiosk printers, scales, and stands as well. Perhaps their most anticipated product launch was the latest generation of TSP100 printers, the new TSP143IV. This cutting-edge printer offers advanced connectivity and a sleek design to enhance any retailer’s point of sale system.

    Somerset, NJ – September 7, 2021 – Star Micronics, a leading manufacturer of mobile, point of sale (POS), and customer engagement technologies, is excited to debut its new line of 1D/2D barcode scanners, including a desktop barcode scanner, a handheld scanner, and a wireless handheld scanner.

    All three of the new scanners feature a high-powered CPU capable of capturing high-density, high-volume, and distorted barcodes printed on paper or displayed on screen with ease. Additionally, they all feature a durable IP-rated design and a 4-foot drop-resistant housing. Designed with compatibility in mind, the desktop barcode scanner and handheld barcode scanner seamlessly connect to Star Micronics mCollection printers.

    Ideal for cashiers, ticket validation, and customer service desks, the desktop barcode scanner easily toggles between normal and high-motion-tolerance mode, in which the scanner has a 2.5m/s motion tolerance and large field of view (horizontal 51°, vertical 32°).

    The wireless handheld barcode scanner features a 2200mAh battery, allowing it to run for up to 12 hours of continuous use, and its included USB cable allows for convenient charging. With the latest Bluetooth 5.0 technology, the wireless handheld scanner effortlessly maintains a reliable wireless connection to transmit data, with communication distances up to 150 feet.

    The handheld scanner offers the same features as its wireless counterpart plus you can plug the scanner directly into a Star Micronics printer or any USB host device. As an additional bonus, the two handheld scanners also come with a smart stand which activates the automatic scanning function on the scanner.

    An industry-first, the SDK supports the integration of Star printers for React Native apps

    Somerset, NJ – April 8, 2021 – Star Micronics, a leading manufacturer of mobile, point of sale (POS), and customer engagement technologies, is excited to announce the release of the StarXpand™ SDK for React Native, a software development kit for Star printer control for the popular cross-platform framework, React Native.

    In the past, mobile POS applications had been developed exclusively for each operating system (OS), such as iOS and Android. However, in recent years cross-platform development – which allows more of the programs of an application to be developed with one code for multiple OS’s – is attracting attention. Cross-platform development is expected to become essential to application development in the future.

    To respond to this trend – and for the first time in the receipt printer industry – Star has developed StarXpand™ SDK for React Native. The SDK supports the development of connecting to and controlling Star printers in applications that utilize React Native. StarXpand™ SDK for React Native will help shorten the development time and maintenance costs associated with printer connection, and will be published on GitHub, a website where developers around the world publish and share program codes.

    StarXpand™ SDK for React Native uses a new StarIO10 framework which includes multiple advantages including: asynchronous communication allowing print jobs to happen in parallel; an emulation-free design so that one StarXpand™ document will work with any Star printer; human-readable command creation; faster printer search allowing users to discover all devices in under second; and a logging function between the OS and printer to be used for debugging.
